Electric Espresso Coffee Maker – Barista Supplies
So, you're a big fan of espresso. That's fantastic! But what is it, exactly? You don't like how much they cost on a daily basis? Pour water into the bottom

Pour cold water into the
bottom chamber. Pre-heating the water will prevent the coffee from cooking on
the stove. That might be a good idea if you're using the big 6-cup Bialetti,
but I noticed it didn't make a difference in taste and was more of a hassle
with the 3-cup Bialetti. Try both methods and choose the one that works best
for you.
Fill the filter with
ground coffee
Fill the filter with
ground coffee. The fineness of the grind is a point of contention. I use a
grind that is finer than drip, but slightly coarser than espresso. The filter
should not be crammed. I use my finger to level the grinds and get away with
any loose grounds, just as I would with daily espresso. Place the coffee in the
bottom chamber once it has been loaded into the filter. Alternatively, you
might first fill the filter and then add the ground coffee. It's good either
way.
Make sure the top and
bottom chambers are safe. As a group,
Twist the upper and bottom
chambers together until they are fully sealed. Failure to completely secure the
two chambers could result in a failed brew and a messy cleanup.
Place the coffee maker on
top of the stove
Turn on the heat and place
the stovetop maker on top of it. The job can be done with only a low flame. You
may also carry it outside and use a campfire to cook it over.
Remove from the heat until
the coffee has finished brewing and serve
Switch off the heat and
serve the coffee until the brew cycle is full and the coffee is in the top
chamber. A brew period in progress is shown in the images below. Ideally, you
can keep the lid closed when brewing.
Allow to cool before
cleaning
Allow time for your
stovetop espresso maker to cool before dismantling it for cleaning. You don't
want to get burned.
